Terrified of Giving Birth!!

Were any of you terrified of giving birth???

I'm starting to get so nervous!! I try to watch "baby Story" on TLC, but it just makes me WAY more nervous! I'm not scared of the IV, or the epidural, but the actual birth part!!! I don't know if a little wimp like me can handle it!! And I would be even more terrified if I ended up having a C-section! A lot of people have told me they think pregnancy is 9-10 months long so that by the time you get to the end you aren't scared anymore you're just ready to get the baby out! Well I don't feel like that at all! I'm SO NERVOUS!!

I've been having what feels like really bad cramps since last night at 6:00 p.m. and they aren't going away... and so I'm nervous he is going to come soon! I don't know if I'm ready to do it!!!

Any advice???

YOU CAN DO IT! I have done it twice and I dont mean to be cheesy but it is really 2 of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. I had convinced myself that something was going to go wrong ( I am a worry wort) and honsetly its nothing like you expect! You were made to make babys. Lacey I told myself I did not want the mirror that they have above you to watch yourself give birth ( I thought it was gross)but for me my nurse pulled it down anyway and it really helped me push them out and it was so incredible to watch what your body can do! I did it with Gwen too and loved it even more the second time! Dont be afraid YOU CAN DO IT! And you have your best friend there to help coach you through it, which helped me so much! Its an amazing experience that both you and your husband wont EVER forget! I wish you the best of luck! I will send prayers your way!

No advice but I'm totally scared too (maybe that's why I'm not even thinking about getting pregnant any time soon.. but I know you can do it! Your husband will be with you the whole time and I think you'll totally forget about everything once you hear his cry! I can't believe you almost had him the other day...Good luck Lacey!

Hey miss. I am so excited for you to have a baby. You don't need to be nervous at all, I probably shouldn't say this but after having the epidural, for me, Labor was a piece of cake. They gave me my epidural at 6 a.m. and by 3 p.m. I was ready, the doctor came in and Rilee was born at 3:11 p.m.. So I know its going to be easy for you. You are totally ready. Love You

You can do it!!!!! You are so cute with Bennett. You will be such a cute Mommy to Brody. I would be really scared too. My only suggestion is ask for lots of drugs!!!! My friend Krystal does C-sections all the time for her job. She is in Pilgrim Mill so if you ever want to talk to someone about how they go so maybe you won't be as nervous let me know.

You will do great. Bennett can't wait for play dates with Brody.

Hey don't worry about it once you get the epidural it's a piece of cake! Up until then thats when it hurts the most, the labor goes by so fast and before you know it you will be holding Brody in your arms saying how cute and perfect he is!!

sister, it is always scary! i've already had one and i'm getting to the nervous/scared part of this pregnancy too!! it's way overwhelming, and you feel like you're going into something that you have no clue about and don't really know how it's gonna go down... but it WILL be okay... and trust me on this too: take all the drugs you can get!! hahaha - i dont say that because it's horrible, i say that because i don't like pain. i had nearly no pain with my first because of medication and epidurals and i'm all about it!! if you want some gory details, they did have to cut me pretty badly (episiotomy), and that recovery was a little painful once i was home, but no matter how the details of your delivery work out, you will be happy and things will work out perfectly. and those first moments are magical no matter what!! it's totally okay to be freaked though! just have faith in yourself!

It wasn't nearly what I thought it would be to be honest....I was SOOOO scared but it wasn't as bad as I had built up in my mind. My advice, DON'T watch a baby story!! That show freaked me out. I still can't watch it even though I'm not pregnant anymore!

It's just hard because you don't know what to expect. I did the exact same thing and watched a baby story! And it totally freaked me out too! But I honestly think it helped, I expected a lot worse than it actually was!!! Like everyone else said...the worst part is until you get the epidural, and after that its not bad at all! You will do awesome! Can't wait to see pictures of the little guy!!!

I agree with Kate. It will be the last thing you will think about when you get admitted. You will be so anxious for Brody to be in your arms you will forget everything!...Maybe not the pain! haha.
P.S. Dont watch Baby Story. That got me all worked up and nervous too! Mine was so easy compared to those pathetic ladies. Just make sure you are walking lots right now!!

Dont worry! I promise its not that bad I have done it twice and would do it a million more times just to have that feeling of getting to meet your baby for the first time! It is so amazing and if you have an epidural you will probably sleep through the labor part! good luck and I cant wait to see pictures!

Hi Lacey, This is Gramma Giron at Carol's house and I am really enjoying your blog. I'm with you on the pain part until the epidural part where the pain goes away and you can think of Brody being in your arms. You're blessed in that Billy will be in with you all the way. In my days of 7 pregnancies the husband was not even allowed in the birthing area, fathers had to wait in the waiting room, women had to have the strength all by themselves with the help of the Doctor, of course, You are strong and with Billy's love you will be fine, My prayers are always with you . Love Gramma Giron

Baby Story makes everything seem so much worse! I stopped watching it! Are you scared for the actual labor or scared something will be wrong?? I think it is totally normal to be scared! Something new and unexpected. With every baby I think I will be scared that everything is okay with both of us. There is just a lot of unknowns. Thank heaven for prayers...they comforted me a lot when I was so nervous. You will go great. Just remember drugs are your friends!!!

Just another voice in the crowd.... We had a Fantastic time giving birth- I was VERY scared to climb down the mountain I had spent 9 months climbing but everything went SO well, I had great support from Mike and he said not even 5 minutes after Max was born... WOW!! That was so much easier and more pleasant than I expected!!! You'll do fantastic :) We wish you the BEST!!!

Well I was scared to death as well, but the truth is, most babies are born healthy with no problems at all. It's different than anything else in the world, for sure, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be (not to say it was like having a party or anything) but still not as bad as it ever looks on TV. Definintely get the epidural. I have no idea why anyone would choose not to. Just going through enough of the labor without it before I got it was enough to know that I never want to even try! Once you get it, you won't feel anything until the baby is actually coming. Then you'll feel like it's wearing off, but they'll tell you it's not and the baby is coming (this happened with both of my kids) and then you push against the pressure and you won't feel it. Both of my kids took less than 10 minutes of pushing, so hopefully your baby will come fast. You can do it! You will do it! And you'll have a beautiful little prize when it's over!
